Lillin, 8, and her family drive to their summer cottage in the countryside to get over the
little girl seeing a small dog hit by a car on a city street. Lillin is thrilled to discover nature
… and a cat she immediately adopts. Child and cat find themselves part of unexpected
adventures. Lillin meets a small bee learning about her flowers to succeed in her test
and get grown-up stripes. The cat falls into a basket of newly created musical notes,
spreading chaos. Fairy Eleven, a mischievous tiny fairy brings her own unfiltered joy to
life’s pot of educational situations.
Excerpt: A new sound pierced the singsong voices and the melodies. Lillin heard approaching
hooves and looked back to see a beautiful horse galloping toward them. With a small snort, the
horse stopped right beside her. He was big and brown, with a golden mane and tail. The fairies
giggled and some even laughed when Lillin almost jumped out of the way. The horse took a few
steps back, neighed, and shook his head up and down. He pawed the ground with his hoof. He,
too, was startled to see a little girl among the fairies.
Lillin loved horses very much. She had many toy horses at home. She had even had riding lessons
the previous year and had quite enjoyed them. She also liked to draw horses. This horse was so
… so … big (even a little scary)!
The horse stopped pawing the ground and seemed to be looking around for someone, or
something.
Fairy Eleven flew gracefully from her flower onto the horse. She said: “Lillin, meet my friend
Mosey. He is here to help me find the Magic Ring. Fairy One needs the ring and Naughty Fairy
Candice has hidden it somewhere. We have been looking for it for a long time.”
“OH!” exclaimed Lillin, feeling excited. “Can I help? Please, please. I am so good at finding
things. Mommy always calls me when she loses her keys or her glasses.”
“Thanks, Lillin but this is something I promised Fairy One I would do myself, to earn my new
wings. You see, I am the reason the ring was lost in the first place. I trusted Fairy Candice even
though Fairy One had warned me not to play with her. Candice tricked me and now I am in
trouble.” Fairy Eleven sounded contrite.
“Wait, wait, wait!” Lillin remembered to ask. “How come this fairy has a name and all the others
I met are known by numbers?”
“Oh, you noticed,” Fairy Eleven said as she was extracting herself a little from the mane of the
horse where she had slipped in too deeply…”
