Katy Mattingly has been the director and lead instructor at Washtenaw Area Model Mugging (WAMM) Self-Defense in Ann Arbor, Michigan, since 1996. WAMM is affiliated with the IMPACT network, which trains participants in awareness, deterrence, verbal boundaries and full-force, full-contact self-defense. Mattingly has been teaching realistic and effective self-defense for more than 15 years in a variety of venues, including corporations, universities, youth and community centres and domestic violence shelters. She also is a freelance writer.
